The whiskeys

Bushmills Original Irish Whiskey

bushmills.jpg

Northern Ireland’s most famous distillery is located by the coast in a town called Bushmills, Co. Antrim. Matured in American oak casks, Bushmills has been produced there since 1784. The distillery is of such historical importance that it’s image is used on Northern Ireland Bank notes. A great whiskey with a little drop of water. A mini Bushmills is seen here on top of Diamond Hill in the heart of Connemara.

Paddy Centenary

A once off release to celebrate 100 years of Paddy, released in 2013. I love the story of Paddy whiskey, with it being named after the Cork Distillery’s salesman Paddy Flaherty who was so well known by locals, they referred to the whiskey as “Paddy’s whiskey”. (Thanks James in Blakes for telling us this story). This is a 7 year old, single pot still whiskey which has the traditional spelling of “whisky” and a picture of Paddy Flaherty to pay homage to the brand’s heritage.

This is a limited edition, 11 year old single malt from the Tipperary Boutique Distillery with only 1,916 bottles produced from 6 barrels for the Centenary of the the 1916 rising. This is the first whiskey released by the new distillery and is a double distilled whiskey aged in bourbon barrels, making for a full strength flavour. Make sure you try it before it disappears!
